Edna Ellison's employer-provided health insurance will end with her retirement, which is less than a year away. She applied for Social Security retirement benefits and enrolled in Medicare, but suspected she would need supplemental insurance. When she received a package of information 3 inches thick about supplement selections, she knew she was in over her head. She was hesitant to work with an insurance salesperson, preferring to discuss her retirement goals with someone who did not have a vested interest in her decision. Ms. Ellison decided to work with Accountable Aging. Under our guidance, she learned the extent and limitations of her Medicare benefits, reviewed the decisions she needed to make before selecting the appropriate supplements, and decoded the pricing structure. Soon, all these factors were beginning to make sense. Next, Accountable Aging recommended she pick three options to review in depth, including premium costs, coverage and insurance ratings. She was then prepared to select her insurance plan, confident in her breadth of knowledge.
Ms. Ellison was so satisfied with the health insurance guidance she had received, she asked Accountable Aging to also review her life and homeowners insurance policies.
